But these times range from 2 minutes up to just a few hours. Businesses produce income for a set length of time before they have to be reset with tap from the player. But my biggest concern is the game’s structure strongly encouraging very frequent check-ins. Some of the menus can be a bit labyrinthine, with important info sometimes hidden away in hard-to-find spots. Its isometric perspective can make it tricky to select buildings. Pixel People remains thoroughly enjoyable from its brisk beginning to its much more leisurely paced end-game. Speeding up a building just costs just a few cents, not a few dollars. Additionally, the premium features that are here are very reasonably priced. A patient player playing for free could see and do everything the game has to offer. Players that never pay a cent will still enjoy a steady trickle of Utopium via tree harvests, a Utopium Mine and other sources. And Pixel People is one of the most generous and reasonable examples in recent memory. But here’s the thing – not all freemium titles treat their currency the same. Players can purchase Utopium, Pixel People’s premium currency, in bundles ranging from $1.99 to $24.99. Of course, as a freemium title, players that are willing to pay up can skip these wait times and strategic concerns entirely. Smart and observant players will likely make money twice as quickly as more casual players. Is it best to build more coin-giving trees, or more construction cost-reducing decorations? Where a citizen works also makes a big impact on income. With a finite amount of space to build, every construction project becomes a real decision. Players only interested in casually tapping around will still (slowly) progress through Pixel People, but there is a surprising amount of depth for min/maxers to consider as well. ![]()
